As a designer and maker I value objects for their usefulness, comfort and beauty. I am inspired by traditions developed over generations through the work of many hands. In my own practice I aim to create functional, lasting objects that invoke wisdom from the past to meet present needs.
Building upon traditional techniques, I also explore new materials and processes. Focused attention to detail draws me fully into the present moment where tactile qualities of wood and fiber become valued teachers. I work primarily with natural and salvaged materials, sourced with attention to social and ecological impacts. My aspiration is that the care and attention to detail in my work be a reminder to slow down and enjoy life's simple pleasures.
This site documents some of my adventures in wood working and fiber craft. I hope my portfolio will inspire other artists and generate interest among potential clients or collaborators.
